    Technical Advisors

    BNUU receives valuable technical support from a number of experts. These include:

    • Dr. Lynda Nakalawa (Akili Mental Health and Coaching Consultants Uganda Ltd) for mental health supervision, training and continuing professional development. Dr. Lynda Nakalawa is an Assistant Lecturer at Makerere University School of Psychology.
    • Juliana Nyombi for career development, mentoring and management guidance and support. Juliana is Board Chairperson at TASO Uganda.
    • LBDesign for website design and maintenance.
    • Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital for training of health workers, mentoring and coaching
    • The team from the Gulu Regional Referral Unit for supervision and mentoring of health workers and BNUU team
    • Agago District’s District Health Department for supervision and technical guidance
    • Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital in Kalongo Town Council for supporting project implementation and providing support supervision to the BNUU psychiatric nurse.

    Board Members

    Vincent Mujune (Chair) is a Public Health professional with a Masters in Public Health. He has over 18 years’ experience working for Civil Society Organizations in Uganda through research, mental health systems strengthening work aimed at building resilient health among the most vulnerable communities and ensuring that people living in such communities survive crises and shocks to the health sector. Vincent has previously worked for GOAL Global as the Deputy Program Director for Health /People Centered Advocacy and Partnerships Organizational Development Mentor. He has led and implemented programmes funded by USAID, DFID, Irish Aid and European Union.

    David Emitu (Treasurer) has worked in various financial roles for over 17 years, heading up Treasury teams in banks such as KCB Bank, Barclays and Nile Bank. More recently, he has founded several businesses, and is the Managing Director of ERA Beauty Lounge Ltd (with a team of 45 staff) which has two branches in Kampala, and Inyamat Restaurant Ltd (with a team of 43 staff). David has a BA in Social Sciences and has the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications.

    Onen Ongwech is a Social Scientist (Psychologist & Social Anthropologist) and Gender & Sexuality practitioner with 9 years’ experience in refugee-related project design, management, conflict-related sexual violence, nurturing survivor-led support groups, communities recovering from legacies of violent wars, facilitating high-level trainings, and designing capacity building and mentorship programmes for multiple stakeholders. He currently works as a Programme Manager, Gender & Sexuality, Refugee Law Project (RLP).

    Mary Akello has a wealth of experience in building Partnerships, Lobbying, Coordination, Communication and Documentation, Leadership and Management, Mentorship, Information Management, Monitoring and follow up of development progress activities in War & Post War programs. She has a strong background of Finance and Accounts in Public Office, as well as a Masters in Governance and Ethics. She currently works in the Office of the Prime Minister Department of Pacification and Development as a Senior Information Officer.
